Recently I got the two front tires stuck in my yard in a trench. The back wheels could not get traction and spun when transmission engaged. To try and get it out I placed it into four wheel drive and tried to engaged the front tires to get out, no such luck.
Eventually I got it out but now the steering column whirrs or whines when I turn it from neutral in either direction.
What are the steps to diagnose this problem?
