1983 GMC C1500 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic alot miles

I have a rebuilt a 5.0 lit but i can't remember how to set the distributor from scratch

you need to find top dead center on cylinder # 1 and then you point the distributors rotor at the number one cylinder.
