How to retrieve codes without using a scanner

I recently replaced the transmission and since putting it back together it has been one issue after another. Anyone know the procedure for getting the codes without a scanner? Running out of money, and taking it to a shop is out of the question! Please Help!

Unfortunately it is not. The only way to pull codes is to use a scanner. The other way to pull them stop in the mid to late 1990's when OBD 1 went away.

You can stop by most any parts store and they can pull codes for you free of charge.
