i am helping a friend with a problem that originally started after being ran hot .we pulled the engine,tore it down and decided to rebuild comletely.machine work done by very reputable shop,name brand parts,after assembly and install would not start.made al necessary checks,found no comp. found leaking by valves.removed head rechecked by machine shop,replaced head timed and valves adj. as book showed.still no compression,double checked cam timing,lash,etc.the book i am using is a clymer,is there possibly a misprint

HI there, if you have a comp issue t the valves it must be valve timing or valve clearances, i first would do a leak down test and check which valves are leaking, you will hear it in the exhaust or the induction as air pressure is applied, knowing this you will have a better understanding as to wher you should be looking, i have added the clearances and valve timing pics for referance purposes. mark (mhpautos)
