Can someone walk me through this? I have worked on my own vehicles since I was a kid but have never tackled a heater core?

Best thing to do is to use the car repair link in this thread or get a Haynes manual.

The dash must be partially dissasembled and it is far easier and more accurate to use a wriiten guide, which will pay for itself the first repair.
