Steering problem
1994 Geo Prizm 4 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 32000 miles

When I turn the steering wheel either way (especially when cold), the car makes a terrible screeching noise. When I straighten the wheel, it stops after a few seconds (usually) and only happens when I am turning while driving slowly. I would like to avoid extra repair costs and would like to have an idea of what is needed before I take it to the repair shop. Thanks!
