1994 Geo Prizm Best Water Pump and Best Timing Belt

I am thinking of having the timing belt service done on my Prizm soon. I want to get the best water pump and the best timing belt.

I found out that there are water pumps with housing and water pumps without housing and they are not interchangeable.

I want a Made in Japan water pump, preferably Aisin. An online catalog says Aisin does not have any w.p. for my car.

There is GMB. NPW,Airtex etc etc.

Please let me know which part number water pumps (Aisin, GMB, NPW and other Japanese-made ones) fit 1994 Geo Prizm 1.8 (7A-FE) ? The ones that fit a 7A-FE Corolla do not fit Prizm apparently, or the amazon catalog is wrong.

The Prizm and Corolla are mechanically identical.

They are built in the same plant in Fremont, CA.

You should be able to buy parts from Toyota.

here it says Aisin brand water pump with housing fits a 1994 1.8 Corolla but not a 1994 1.8 Prizm. 'AISIN Water Pump, w/ housing - This can be used to replace either 16110-19175 or 16110-19185.; 1994-1997 Toyota Celica ST; 1993-1997 Toyota Corolla, L4 1.8L'

lists the water pumps fitting a 94 Corolla 7A-FE.
is the list for 94 7A-FE Prizm.

Not the same water pumps.

Checked with NAPA and the Aisan pump for both the 94 7AFE are the same numbers for the Prizm and Corolla.

It is not necessary to get the housing, but they again show the same number for the 7AFE engine for the Corolla or Prizm.

The Prizm did come with 3 engine choices in 94, while the Corolla only had 2 engines.

I did not know Toyota had 3 engine options for the year 1994.

By the way, Aisan is not the same brand as Aisin, is it?

'w/o Housing - Pump must be inspected for impeller-to-housing clearance prior to installation - There is a difference between the Aisan made vs. Aisin made. 16110-19175 = Aisan type. 16110-19185 = Aisin type. These are NOT interchangeable. Pump w/ Housing (16100-19305) replaces both Aisan & Aisin type pumps.'

So I am going to get the Aisin,NPW,GMB brand (whichever is the best, Japanese OE) water pump w/housing W0133-1616599-ASC , the one that fits a 7A-FE Corolla and it will be a direct fit for my 94 7A-FE Prizm? Just to make sure I do not end up with a water pump I do not need.

Also what brand/type of timing belt would you suggest? What is the best, most durable timing belt? OEs included.

BTW, the spark plugs and wires I put on the car increased my mileage from around 15 MPG to 28-29 MPG. The previous owner's Bosch Platinum 4 plugs were not a good choice.

If you want the best parts, go to Toyota for the belt and tensioner, also inspect the lower gear drive for wear.

I use NGK plugs or Denso in my 4AFE, Denso has a new TT (twin tip) platinum plug I am currently using.

In my 1ZZFE I use NGK Iridium.

The 4AFE water pump in my Corolla, was changed after 16 years, and I only changed it because I was replacing the valve stem seals.
