Electrical problem
1990 Geo Metro Front Wheel Drive Automatic 100000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 1991 Geo Metro in addition to my 90. We've replaced the Fuel Pump, Filter, Throttle Regulator on Throttle Body, and Relay Switch. The Car Turns over, and the engine starts with Starter Fluid. But it seems that the timing of the Fuel pump is off. When turning the key in the ignition, the pump turns on for less than a sec and shuts off. When we turn the key back, the fuel pump turns on (the humming sound.) In addition, the ignition switch is so old that the key slides in and out; you could start this car with a butter knife.
My Question: Can the Ignition switch affect the timing of the Fuel pump? Because we've tested the wiring and its getting power. Can anyone help?
