After starting the car, I would engage either Drive or Reverse for motion. When I release the brake pedal for it to move, a heavy thud noise is heard in the transmission and the car remains stationary. At this moment, the D or R on the dashboard will be flashing continuously. But immediately I press the brake pedal, the car transmission will engage, and it will move normally.
I avoid sudden braking or acceleration as they cause a bad thud noise in the transmission.

Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so I can hear the noise? That way I can tell for sure what's going on. You can upload it here with your response. I would start by checking the transmission fluid. Here is a generic guide to help you step by step with instructions in the diagrams below to show you how on your car:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-and-add-transmission-fluid

Transmission Fluid Type
VW part number .................... G 055 025 A2

Note: Transmission 09G

Also, we should run the codes to see if anything is stored.

And this guide may help as well:

Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
