Gear shifter moves but will not lock into place or change gears. Was fine twenty minutes ago.

Best suspect is the shifter cable became disconnected at the lever on the transmission. The attachment for the cable's casing could also be loose, allowing the casing to slide back and forth rather than making the cable move.
