Car accelerates on its own

Is this doing it to you? It is almost impossible to find this issue when it is not acting up. If this is doing it now, where are the RPMs when you are letting off the brake? Is there a floor mat installed in the vehicle? If so remove it and see if it still does it. That is the most likely cause of this as it happens all the time.

If this is not doing it to you, and it has floor mats, I would bet that the mat was hung on the pedal and it jams it down. Then when they start it and remove their foot it takes off.

Yes, i removed the mats it is still doing it the rpm needle is at 5 the gas pedal is not stuck but the car keep accelerating.

Okay. Great info. First and foremost, you are going to want to have the customer call BMW's corporate office or customer call center to report this. Even if the vehicle is out of warranty this is something that needs to be made known to the OEM as it is a safety issue.

Also, they may request to have it looked at by an inspector. If not, we are going to need to monitor the accelerator pedal sensors and see what they are saying. There will be two of them and the voltage should be opposite of each other on a 5 volt scale. Meaning if one is 1.5 volts the other should be 3.5 volts.

So i talked with BMW they accept full responsibility and they said to bring the car, but when i talked to the lady about it she said she will do it later and she will rely on the brakes to drive and control the car. I didn't agree with but she was insisting.
What should i do?

Wow. If this is a customer's vehicle then all you can do is stress that this needs to be taken care of now as it can cause an accident/injury. These types of issues have taken peoples lives so it is not something to put off. It may be controllable now but what happens if it gets to the point where the brakes won't hold the vehicle. She should look up a case of a Lexus in California where they could not stop the car and the whole event was recorded on the 911 call until the phone cut off when they crashed. No one in the car survived and the driver was an off duty highway patrol officer so he was an experienced driver to say the least. Again, this is not a small issue.

From your stand point as a business you need to document on the repair order/work order what is happening and how you called BMW and they recommended to take it in and you advised the customer and they declined. Give them a copy and keep one for yourself. Basically just document the whole thing with your recommendation so that if something happens it can't come back to you that you did not inform them.
