Whenever I turn my car on and hit the gas my car doesn't do anything.

It sounds like you might be having an issue with the accelerator pedal position sensor. It is a sensor built into the accelerator pedal. This is considered a fly-by-wire design and relays information to the throttle body and engines computer to control the engine RPM's. I've attached picture steps below for its location and replacement steps. I've circled the sensor in red. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
