Does a diesel fuel solenoid fuse belong in my gas engine?

trying to fix poor start. poking around in engine fuse block, fuel solenoid 20-amp fuse is missing. info i have said this fuse is for diesel only, but i put a 20-amp fuse in, and in acc mode test light shows voltage. does fuel solenoid fuse belong in my gas engine? is in fuse panel under the hood.

Hi,

No, you don't need that fuse. It is possible there is power present, but it isn't needed.

Explain to me what is happening. Do you have a crank no start condition or is it something different? If it is a crank no start, see if it starts if you use starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we know it's a fuel-related issue. If there is no change, I need you to check for spark at the spark plugs.

engine runs and starts. I was just wondering if the fuel solenoid fuse should be used as it draws power. Your answer helps.

Hi,

No sir, that fuse slot is used for diesel engines only. It isn't needed for a gas engine.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Also, you may want to remove the fuse you installed. Chances are it won't hurt anything, but I don't know where the power will be going with it in place.
