When I put gas in my car it leaks a lot and sometimes it won't start unless I mess with the battery.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

First, where is the fuel leaking? Is it where you are putting the fuel or under the hood? I have to be honest, if you have a fuel leak and the battery terminals need to be moved to start the vehicle, a spark could start a fire.

If you have to move the battery terminals to get it to start, it sounds like they are loose. Is that the case? They have to be clean and tight.

If the fuel leaks in the area where you put the pump in, there is a good chance the filler tube has rusted and there is a hole. That should cause the check engine light to come on.

I attached a picture of part of the filler tube so you can see what I mean. In the pic, you can see where it connects to the fuel tank.

Let me know.
