Yep, this is common when the fuel injectors are starting to leak. I would lift the hood and use a flashlight for inspection, here is where you want to look, you don't need the engine running to see the wet fuel. Check out the images (below). Please upload pictures or videos in your response of any problems so we can see what to help you with.

Hi,

We need to identify the leak quickly to prevent any major issues. When you smell fuel, do you notice it when the engine is running or when off?

Also, can you tell where the odor is strongest? For example, does it seem stronger at the rear of the vehicle, center, or from the engine compartment?

Open the hood after driving and see if the smell comes from that area. If it doesn't, we need to check under the vehicle. Inspect the steel fuel lines that go from the fuel tank to the engine compartment to see if there is any evidence of a leak or marks where it may have leaked.

The idea that you smell it in the vehicle leads me to think it is coming from under the hood and moving into the cabin. So, take your time and inspect the fuel lines, injectors and fuel rail under the hood. Please keep in mind, any fuel leak is dangerous and could lead to a fire.

If you look at the pic I attached below, it shows the fuel rail and its components. It is located on the top of the engine and is what receives fuel from the pump, returns unused fuel to the tank, provides fuel to the injectors and holds the fuel pressure regulator and fuel damper. Inspect all of these areas for leaks.

Let me know what you find

Joe
