if i suspect a bad sending unit can i just unplug it as it has a separate plug to the fuel pump, will my run and by unplugging the sender and it fixes the stalling problem then i would know its the sender and not the pump that is giving me the stalling out problems, will this work for testing?

no it also connects the pump. check fuel pressure with a gauge auto parts rent it. if you are getting hesitation a gauge will not cause the problem. pressure should be 41-47 psi minimum see link
