Does the plastic canister that pump goes in have to be primed with fuel so the pump does not dry start and burn up?

Hello,

No. Usually you just have to place the fuel pump in the hanger and hook up the electrical connector. As long as the fuel pump is able to pick up fuel, than it should cool itself.

Thanks,
