Fuel pump fuse issues

Hello, I am Danny.

I have a diagram that I attached for you to look at. I believe your car has an inertia switch (I circled in red). If car goes over a hard bump/traffic accident(in your case off-roading) it trips the switch to shut off fuel. I can get more wiring diagrams if needed. Not butting in here, I just wanted to ask if you could post a picture of your car. I would love to see what an off road Town Car looks like.

I have completely run the fuel pump from a different wire altogether. The pump still runs while the engine shuts off from the original fuel pump fuse blowing. I have traced the wire from the fuse and nothing is broken or exposed. Here are the pictures:

Okay, I will look up the fuel pump diagrams again and see what else might be on that circuit. Did you see if the inertia switch is there? It would be located in the trunk on the left side of the package tray area. Hope this helps.

P.S. HEYMAN1104, I came across this off-road Crown Vic P71 Interceptor awhile back.

Everything from the computer on the interior of the car back is eliminated. There is something else that fuse runs, and I cannot find that. That fuel cut off switch was taken out and bypassed when I built it into the racer.

I traced the diagram. And here is what I found: The circuit goes from Fuel Pump into Inertia Switch, then Inertia Switch into Wide Open Throttle cut-out,Then from Cut-out into Shift Solenoid(transmission), then from Shift Solenoid into PCM (Power-train Control Module). Maybe by disconnecting it is triggering something in the PCM. I have attached parts of the diagram.Trace the wire colors to see. Also circled in red. Hope this helps.

Here is what I have found: The fuse runs to the ECC relay, that in turn is wired to the computer in the firewall. The wire from the original fuel pump goes through the crash cut out switch, to the fuel pump relay, and into the computer in the firewall. What I have done for the short term is put in an automatically resetting circuit breaker into the fuse socket for the ECC relay. That has at least allowed me to complete the qualifying race and the feature without issue. I think at this point it is blowing the fuse from either the computer board being broken, or one of the many sensors that are still hooked up to make the car run. Thank you very much for the information, and I hope I can find more information for the next lucky person to choose the mighty Lincoln for a proper race car!

P.S. This last race I came in third place after a rollover. Hot rod Lincoln for the win!
