Good evening,
It needs to be a pump that is regulated to 50 lbs. That is what your truck requires.
Why not replace the pump in the tank?
A pump from rock auto is $48.00.

Go to there web site. Put in your truck and go to the fuel pump. They usually deliver the next day.
I attached the picture of the pump for you.

Is it possible that the filter for the fuel is bad? and it shows the same symptoms of a bad fuel pump.

No. There is a bypass in the filter.
