I believe I have a faulty fuel pump and I am trying to locate the main fuse for that. I am trying to make sure that it is indeed the fuel pump that is faulty. My vehicle just stopped on me and was unable to keep running. It won’t start now. I put a little gas in the carburetor to see if it would start that way and it did. However, it did not stay running. I am trying to locate the fuse for the fuel pump, and I am unable to do so. Could some please help me locate that fuse box? Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Because of the model year, I am unable to find the power supply. However, I did find the fuel pump relay and the inertia switch.

Pic 1 below shows the location of the fuel pump relay. It is in the vehicle, approximately the center or dash area, and tucked under the carpet.

The inertia switch is in the trunk/luggage area. Try resetting it to see if that changes anything. See pic 2

I do have a question. Is this vehicle fuel injected or does it have a carburetor?

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

I found that switch previously and it did nothing when it was reset, and the vehicle has a carburetor and when I put a small amount of gasoline in it to see if it would start that way. It did start but, once the gasoline was gone it cut off.

Hi,

Are you sure this doesn't have a mechanical pump? If it has a carburetor, it likely does. It would be mounted on the cylinder head and uses a lobe on the camshaft to mechanically pump fuel.

See the picture below and let me know.
