Fuel pump

When i start it it sounds like its out of gas. Then shuts off. Put in new fuel pump. Fuse is fine. Still stalls when put it into drive. Fuel pump does not prime when you turn the key.

Two questions: (1) Is the service engine light on? (2) Did you or your mechanic replace the fuel filter when you did the pump?
