Fuel gauge and digital fuel mileage gauge

Fuel gauge and digital fuel mileage gauge are not in sync.

Please explain in a bit more detail. Do you mean the fuel gauge reads half a tank and the mileage reads a full tank? Or is it that the fuel tank reads full but the mileage says something like twenty miles to empty?
