When I start my car, sometimes it just shuts off. I have to press on the gas for it to get going when this does happen. Sometimes when I am driving it will start sputtering and will be difficult to speed up. I am wondering where the fuel filter is on the car. And what part do I need to get it fixed?

Hi,

Interestingly, the idea that you need to press the throttle to get it running leads me to think it is getting too much fuel. When you depress the throttle when cranking, the computer thinks the engine is flooded and prevents more fuel from entering the engine.

The best thing to do, since it could be high or low pressure, is to check the fuel pressure. Here is a link that explains how it's done. Note that you will need a gauge, but most parts stores will lend one to you.

This is where I would start. Note: On this vehicle, the fuel pressure regulator is a part of the fuel sender assembly.

I attached the manufacturer's fuel pressure specifications below for you.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

joe
