Good afternoon.

The filter is at the fuel pump. It is the only one listed. I attached a picture of the location of the filter for you to view. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

Welcome to the forum, the fuel pressure regulator has an internal filter, the regulator is on top of the fuel pump module. There is no separate fuel filter, that I know about.

What's the symptom? Except for diesels, you will never solve a running problem on a Chrysler product by replacing the fuel filter.

should be where the cab and the bed meet in that general location. follow the fuel lines from the tank up to the engine, you will find it that way.

there is also one on the fuel pump.

I staled in the middle of the inter section. It turns over but when i give it gas it dies. i had someone look at it and they said it was a fuel problem. the fuel isnt getting to what ever part it needs to run. They said to try to replace the fuel filter then next thing would be fuel pump... does that sound right? how would i change that since the filter is under the pump>?

Hello, I'd use a gage and double-check fuel pressure. I'd also check for good B+ and ground at the pump. Check for codes. If you need to get at the pump, look and see if you can reach anything, if not, lift the bed or drop the tank.

Hi, not sure which filter your talking about? If strainer that is on the end of fuel pump? You'll have to drop the gas tank and remove fuel pump assembly.

There is a regulator/fuel filter on top of the fuel pump assembly, not in the tank. Don't know if you can reach without dropping the tank?

The fuel filter is located at the top of the fuel tank. Here are some diagrams of where the filter is located in the tank. (below)

It is with the pressure regulator.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken

sing a twisting motion pull fuel filter/pressure regulator from the rubber grommet on the fuel pump module, ensure it's not pulled more then 3 inches out or damage to the pressure regulator can occur! Dodge recomends the tank be removed to service the filter/regulator! It's on top of the gas tank!

YEah, nice place huh? You'll need to drop the tank to get the pump out. The filter/regualtor assy is on top on the module fuel pump module.

The fuel filter is in line on the pressure side of the fuel system. It is near the fuel tank, mounted on the frame, you can follow the larger fuel line back from the engine, or out of the fuel tank to locate it. On every 98 318 injected truck, you must de-pressurixe the system before replacing any component in the system and use care for your eyes. I always recommend disconnecting the negative battery cable for safety. ok Joe

I thought the fuel filter on those trucks was just a sock, or mesh screen, inside the gas tank around the fuel pump?

Hello, every tank does have an initial screen to protect the pump internal parts, a screen, or sock as it is called. But unless your truck has something different, the filter is in the 5/16ths pressure line(8mm) a couple yards down toward the engine. It is a 36,000 mile change recommended. Never saw one without one because of the cost of injector and engine damage under warranty. OK It has the fittings you use a push in tool(pliers) for. OK Steve. Maybe they ran out of them and changed it. New to me. Put one on friday. Good truck. If you haven,t had pump(fuel) problems good. There were some problems with the in tank pumps, but I only see the bad ones so I would not be too concerned.
