When I fill the car with gas, when the tank is full and the pump automatically shuts off, the gas backs up and about a cup or more of gas spews out of the car. It only recently started doing that after 10 years of not doing it.

To answer my own question; turns out there is a maintenance bulletin for this problem through Chrysler. They replace some electrical valve that is supposed to shut something. If you have this problem ask our dealership about it.

That would be the inlet check valve. It sticks partly open and lets the pressure in the tank push the extra fuel in the neck out. They replace the filler tube with a different design that "prevents" the splash back
TSB 14-001-09 REV. A and TSB 14-001-12 Fuel Splash Back cover a lot of vehicles with this problem.
They also extended the warranty on this issue.

Sorry I didn't see your question earlier.
