I need to know if this shimmer washer even is supposed to go onto my car or if my harmonic balancer being a smooth hub on it does not require this washer or shim if it does require it then does it go on before the timing cover and making the order shim timing cover seal harmonic balancer or does it go timing cover shim seal harmonic bouncer?

It would help if you uploaded an image of what you are seeing. There is a shim between the harmonic balancer and the lower timing gear which is called a "friction washer" so yes you need this. The washer goes behind the harmonic balancer, not behind the seal. Check out the images (below). Let us know if you need anything else.

Here is my style harmonic balancer which I have only found 1 other bravada or 4.2L that had the same one as mine out of all the extensive research and out of all the pics on Google images and also any 4.2 that I have pulled parts from at several junk yards. Is there a specific name or part number or generation that I can add to my searches? For future reference.

Your picture states
1 washer
2 timing cover
3 seal
4 Harmonic balancer

Your text Implies
1 timing cover
2 seal
3 washer
4 balancer

If you could please clarify that for me I have not went any further in my nightmare of a project because I'm unsure with the order also if you could look at the part number on the seal and tell me if that is the proper CO4 my harmonic balancer with smooth hub

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME MUCH APPRECIATED!

Yep, the new seal can look different than the original. I have never seen a harmonic balancer that looks like that. Just keep searching, I would look on ebay. The seal goes into the timing cover, the friction washer goes on before the balancer. Let me know how it goes.

I know that the seal goes in the timing cover and I know that the washer goes on before the balancer but can you number the order one through four like I did for the timing cover the washer the seal and then the balancer please and thank you

So the seal goes into the timing cover, then install the friction washer, then timing cover with the new seal, then last press the balancer on, this video can help.

Let us know how it goes. Ken

okay i feel like we're not on the same page (or even the same book for that matter) so lets make this as clear and simple as possible

***my timing cover is already installed***
my seal/ my friction washer/ & harmonic balancer are not installed on the car
so with this exact information. does that mean i need to take off my timing cover?
** i was looking for a simple numbered order.
1-4 with timing cover. friction washer. seal. harmonic balancer.
you said
1--- seal (into timing cover)
2--- friction washer
3--- timing cover
4---harmonic balancer
considering i already have installed my timing cover 1st, ** that would mean i need to remove my timing cover and install the washer first?*** making the placement of the friction washer between the crank gear and the timing cover? please verify if this is correct.

***** correct placement ****
1 friction washer 1. friction washer
2 timimg cover (w/o seal. or 2. seal (timing cover off)
3. seal 3. timing cover
4. harmonic balancer 4. harmonic balancer

i think i can speak for both of us when i say that we were going in circles worrying about
a 1 through 4 step by step
as opposed to focusing on placement rather than a specific order considering the timing cover could be on or off when installing the seal.

*** crank gear then washer in front. then timing cover with or without seal in front of the washer then the seal then the harmonic balancer.

please verify this is the correct placement
friction washer between the timing cover and the crank gear***
does the recessed side face towards the engine? im 95% sure but if you could please verify that the flat side of the friction washer needs to be facing away from the engine.

thank you for your help

I did not know the timing cover was installed, then yes you need to remove it first and add the friction washer, then reinstall the timing cover. Have the seal already installed before you install the timing cover. The lip of the friction washer should face outward. Sorry for the confusion.
