Front end vibration

Help,

Here is my issue:

When I accelerate I hear and feel a loud vibration/rumble noise coming from the front off the truck. It feels like the front left wheel. It is worst if I am turning to the right.

If I am driving down the road and accelerate and turn the wheel right I can feel the vibration if I turn to the left I do not feel it.


Also the front end seems to be a bit noisier than I think it should be sounds like a really loud tire off road tire on rough pavement. I do not have that style it just sounds that way. I think that sound is coming from the front too, but cannot be sure.

I do not know if the two issues are related or not?

That description sounds like a bad wheel bearing. It can cause both of those issues.
To verify that you can jack up the front end and try to move the tires in/out at the top and bottom.

Hi, Thanks for the quick response. We jacked up the truck and the wheel does not seem to move much maybe a little. However, when we spin the wheel by hand we noticed that the strut would raise and lower. Like something was causing pressure on the suspension. Could this be the CV joint?

Any motion in the bearing means it is bad. They can be bad with no motion and only noise as well.
It sounds like you have both a bad wheel bearing and bad CV joint, The easiest thing to do for that is to replace them both at the same time. Not a hard job unless you are in a rust belt state. Then the rust will make you learn some words you have never used!

Thanks so much for your help we plan to replace both. Will let you know how things go. The Mariner have very little rust so I hope all goes well.

Check both sides as a precaution. Noises can be transmitted through the chassis and surprise you. I have driven vehicles where I would swear the sounds were from the front right when they were caused by a bad right rear bearing. Always pays to double check things before tearing them apart.
