Last week I noticed the front end of my car was more bouncy and squeaks a bit when I go over bumps, and kind of feels like the car is floating around. Oh, and my mom drove it just before that and said she heard two separate, loud bangs when she was driving it but did not know what it was. Also, last night we had a wicked snowstorm, and I had to drive fiftieth miles to work in three inches of slushy snow. No one had plowed yet, and while driving, I heard an intermittent rubbing/sloshing noise that seemed to be coming from my front tire on my side. (On my way home this morning, there was also a tugging to the left side, only when the sound happened which sounded like it was once every revolution of the tire.) And after stopping at a stop sign, I could barely get going again. Help please. any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Alicia
PS. I took a video while I was driving, tried to get the sound. I also took a picture of the front wheel strut.

Without seeing the car, it sounds like the front coil springs broke or the lower mounting plates on the struts rusted away. Both of these suggest the car has not been inspected on a regular basis. The place to start is by having the steering and suspension systems inspected at a tire and alignment shop. The people there are experts at finding the causes of noises, vibrations, pulling to one side, and bad tire wear problems.

If a spring broke, they usually leave two ends that are very sharp and pointed. When they rub on the sidewall of a tire, it is just a matter of time before that tire ruptures and is destroyed. That can happen instantly or after a few minutes.
