I replaced the front tires and rims yesterday with stock GM 6 lug 16 in rims (replaced 2 aftermarket rims). This morning go to drive it and it makes a grinding noise almost like the calipers are dragging.

Hi,

Was anything done other than the replacement of the tires and rims? Were the rims from the same year make and model?

If they weren't, check to see if the brake caliper is touching the rear of the wheel. The offset can be different and causing something to touch.

Let me know. Also, let me know if the sound is constant when moving or if it is related to when the brakes are applied.

Take care and I'll watch for your reply.

It was the rims hitting the caliper. Tires remounted on the old rims. problem solved.

Hi Tom,

I had a feeling that is what happened. Wheel offset is something that isn't usually checked, but it can cause problems.

Regardless, I'm glad it's fixed. Please feel free to come back in the future if you need anything.

Take care,
Joe
