Can a 1997 Prado front differential go into a 2003 Prado both diesel? are they compatible and if not what's the closet Toyota model that will go with the same ratios or are compatible with each other? Example like a Surf etc.

These vehicles are not offered in the US, so I have no technical support to identify and compare. What you should do is this. Look up part numbers for both. Then, compare design and specifications to confirm if they are interchangeable.
