Where are the freeze plugs located and how to replace them?

There are a few sizes and locations of freeze plugs, larger ones on the side of the block, and smaller ones on cylinder heads. See image 1
Some are hard to get at, some impossible to get at without engine removal. Back side of engine between the flywheel and the block and back sides of the heads. See image 2.

You will have to and see which freeze plug/plugs are leaking and then see if the engine can stay in place. See image 3.

The easiest way to determine the location of a coolant leak is to pressure test the cooling system.

Freeze plug corrosion is usually caused by a lack of cooling system service and insufficient coolant added.
