The drive shaft going from transfer case to rear differential is not spinning even with the four-wheel drive engaged. Knowing that the transmission fluid is shared with the transfer case I checked that, and it is full. I had rebuilt the rear differential and that checks out to be good still. I checked all of the wiring that has to do with all the four-wheel drive including the ABS wheel sensors and those are all good. I checked any fuses as well as relay fuses and those are all good as well. I'm really stumped on this one as I already know quite a bit about Patriots.

Hi,

This could be a few things. The AWD module may have issues, there could be a low voltage signal from the switch, a bad switch, or an issue in the can-bus.

CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, all the different modules are tied together via a few wires. If you scan the CAN, it should retrieve codes regardless of the module storing it. Here is a link showing how it's done:

This is where I recommend starting. Otherwise, we will need to start checking voltages, resistance, connectors, and so on. If we have a code, it will point us in the right direction.

Let me know your thoughts. If you have already retrieved a code, let me know what it is.

Take care,

Joe
