67 GALAXIE 390 FE

1967 Ford Galaxie Convertible - 390 FE V8; 170K+ on original engine/tranny. Never molested. Car has been sitting in storage for 10+ yrs. Ran fine before storaged.
After I change oil,sparks plugs, water... what do you guys recommend before i start it up. Do i need to drain gas? And is there anything else i should change/do before or after i start it up.

Your recommendations are much appreciated.

Drain all gas, change oil, change radiator coolant. The fuel pumpis probably bad as well as the carburator full of dead gas It smells like something dead) The points, plugs condenser need to be replaced

As an old 390 person I doubt it will start with out some major fuel system work.

Let me know how far you get. I am painting a bad worse case senario but do all of those thing. remove the carb drain the gas. Squirt some carb cleaner the fuel inlet and work the carb and see i clean carb cleaner come out.

One more thing for you to think of. I like to collect and restore old cars. My friend and I have a 1965 Mustang Convertible, 1969 Barracuda Convertible, 1950 Dodge Warfare Convertible, 1959 Cadi Convertible, 1966 Chevy Long Bed Hot Rod pick up truck, 1979 Dodge, Little Red Express Pick up truck, and last, a 1960 Bentley. With any of these, or any car that has sat for any length of time like the one you have. You have to replace all hoses, including the brake lines. They will rot and weaken with age. The last thing you need to happen is having your brake line spring a leak while you are out on the highway. Also, do not for get the rubber in your brake wheel cyl, or the master cyl. These all can go bad, with just sitting. [/img]
