I took the van for an oil change today. He showed me the transmission dip stick with fluid that looked grayish, not pink. He asked if it had been serviced and I said, not yet. He said it needed to be because that color was, "not a good thing". Another person told me that it wasn't so bad, it just needed to be changed, flushed and a new filter. Should I be worried? It seems too early to have in mileage to have transmission problems. It hasn't been worked hard and the engine hasn't overheated. We did have a little fluid leak onto the guard under the radiator because a hose wasn't tight, but my husband said he didn't add much fluid. He didn't notice the color. We do need have a cv problem that hasn't been fixed yet (joint, I think). We have replaced the radiator twice and the ac coil once. The work was done by my husband. Even though the mileage is only in the 60's, I'm nervous about changing fluid, but know that something has to be done if it's not the right color. What should I do?

Hi there,

I would have the system flushed, and the filter changed.
