I have a 2002 Ford Windstar,120K miles, V6 - when I attempt to turn on the a/c or adjust any of the switches the unit starts making this knocking noise; if I try to use the heat I get the same knocking noise plus the smell of burning rubber. Noticed today that the knocking noise is now constant -- no switches were touched or adjusted. What is the problem?
