I just purchase a used Windstar LX 2 weeks ago. the vehicle was driving good until last night after warming the van, then putting the gear into drive the van starting making a knocking noise and skipping as i tried to pull off. I put the van in reverse, and the same noise was louder as though something was locking up in the gears. The van would not move in drive or reverse. We then checked the transmission fluid and there was none after putting in two quarts last wk it was gone. We put more fluid into the transmission and the car still sounded the same and couldnot go forward without skipping. HELP!!!

Hi:
It sounds like a problem with the torque converter. I recommend having it take to a mechanic you trust and let them hear it.
