I took my 2001 Ford Windstar in for repair of the Drivers side window motor. Upon completion I observed that the vehicle would not star so the technician gave the vehicle a jump.

After the vehicle started we observed that the Hazard Lights were flashing and that the switch on top of the steering wheel would no go down in the off position.

We tried to remove every fuse to get the hazard lights to turn off to no avail. I eventually had to remove the battery cable to park the vehicle without the lights flashing and running down the battery.

When I drove the vehicle in for repair I did not have this problem. Any Suggestions regarding how to fix this new problem.

Sounds like the factory alarm system flashing the lights, not the actual hazards.Charge the battery and try locking and unlocking the drivers side door with the key, it should shut down the alarm/ anti-theft system

Yes this is what I initially thought also, so I activated the anti theft alarm system, however it is not the head light flashing or the horn sounding, just the hazard light flashing.

As I stated I attempted to remove all fuses to eliminate the possibility of a fuse being blown, I had to remove the cable to the battery post in order to get the lights to stop flashing, however I cannot drive around with the hazards flashing.

Additionally the hazard light button on top of the steering column will not go back into the down position.

If it wont lock down, you may have a broken switch. That would be the only reason for it not to.
