2000 Ford Windstar 6 cyl Automatic

I replaced fuel pump and filter old pump only had 18 lbs of pressure van wont idle i have to give it gas to keep it running why?

what pressure is the new pump and filter putting out?

was filter put on the right way, if its backwards it restricts it. could be a bad fuel pressure regulator. or a bad idle motor. did it idle good before replacement? try running some highly concentrated seafoam through the system
