I have a 2000 Ford Winstar with 91,500 miles on it. The other day I go in the car and turned it on and automatically all the doors locked. this usually doesn't happen until i start driving. Just as I started to back out of my space, I noticed that the O/D light was blinking. I pressed the button for it a couple times, thinking I had bumped it, but nothing happened. When I put the car in gear, the light immediately stopped blinking.

I've had the car on 4 times since then. The light blinks when it's in park, but when I put it in Reverse or Drive, the light stops blinking. There is no fluid leak, and I have plenty of fluid(I thought this might be the initial problem, and I was a little low, so i added some.)

That is the PCM telling you there is a problem with the trans or the system controlling it. Have the PCM scanned for codes and get back with the results

Ok, this may seem naive of me, and for that I apologize. Cars are a thing I've only been involved with for the last 3 years due to eye problems,so I'm out of my depth. When you say get it scanned, are we talking taing it to a shop, or is there something I can do myself?

Sorry, my bad. Scanning it means having the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) scanned for trouble codes. When your cars computer sees a repeated failure in a system it will store a code, or reference to the system that is having a problem. Autozone will scan it for free, or you can buy your own code reader for fairly cheap.
