After driving for a while transmission disengages. Pull over turn engine off, restart, van drives normal. After few minutes or if speed slows down at traffic light or to make a turn, transmission disengages again. Engine runs fine. After restart engine and transmission run again after slowing down, etc.

Hi there,

You will have to go get a transmission specialist to scan and check the electronics, it is a bit hard to make a judgment call with out this information first.

Will get on the phone and will get a transmission expert to scan the codes.- Basically it sounds like that is not something common and does not ring a bell. Will get those codes. Thank you.

They took the pan off an dfound lots of metal, suggesting rebuild. Got ofrfer for $ 2000 with one year warranty. Received $ 3000 form Ford for 3 Years and 100.000 miles, and other shops are offering $ 1600 to $1900 rebuild.
Ebay offeres with otheres used transmissions from $ 600 to $ 1200 incl. shipping. Toi put one of those in the cost are here in California between $ 650 and $800.

Any used transi vendors reputable..?

I would like to go the least expensive route, and trade the car in a.s.a.p., What would you suggest?

Hi there,

That is bad news on the transmission, her in Aust we have seen a lot of these transmission fail, i would only suggest that you see if you can get one from a wrecker or on-line, and and try and do a cash deal with a mechanic to fit it.

Good luck.
