the "ding" that tells if keys are left in ignition does not shut off or comes back on as we are driving

Check the driver door switch. If it is not closing correctly or shorted, the warning chime would be turned on.

Try spraying some silicone lubricant in your door latch. I had the same problem. Did that and the problem went away.
