We had alternator problems in our Windstar. We replaced the alternator, drove it for 1 day and the vehicle clicked but wouldn't start the next day. We brought the starter in, had it tested and it failed. We replaced the starter but when we hooked the battery back up the vehicle tried to start itself with no key in the ignition. We pulled the two fuses out of the remote starter box from the aftermarket starter that was installed before we purchased the vehicle and tried again, but when we started to put the positive cable on, it clicked like it was trying to start again. Do you have ANY suggestions on how we can troubleshoot this problem or even where to start?

Check the starter again and make sure the wires on the large lug and the small lug are not touching. Have seen people tighted the nuts and the wire spins around making contact with the ignition lug on the starter. chech that and get back to me. We'll go from there.
