Electrical problem

I was coming home from work this week and my car started to hesitate and when i pushed on the gas it want to stall. A couple blocks from home i knew i was not going to make it and right before it died all my lights came on and my gas gauge readed a half tank when i really only a quarter tank left, then it went dead. I try to start it back up and it would not. I got it towed to my house where i try to start it and it kicked right over.all the light came back on after a min or two and it wanted to stall again so i shut it off. Not sure what to do!
