1996 Ford Windstar Upper Manifold Plenum

An engine diagnosis indicated I needed a lower intake manifold gasket, when i went for a second estimate the shot said it was required to replace the upper manifold plenum with a part cost of $1200.00. Is that abosultely required when nither diagnostic indicate that there was any leakage or damage to the upper manifold plenum.

doesnt sound right , there is no gasket in the world that costs that much money and further more you can buy your own parts and just have them put it on if they are so bent on "needing" this part to fix your car. i know it sounds crazy but take it for another opinion till it sounds right to you (prices) and ask them what is this part that costs 1200 dollars. and let me know
