1995 Ford Windstar overdrive light is flashing

1995 Ford Windstar 120000 miles

My over drive light started flashing and now my transmission is acting light it is having a hard time up/down shifting sometimes. Are the two things related and what could be the problem? Is this something I can fix at home?

They are probably related. You need to pull the codes from the computer to start off, which requires a scanner. Have seen some torque converter problems on these.
