As the subject states I have been running around for 2000 miles now on a brand new engine from Jasper with the Camshaft Synchronizer & Camshaft Sensor Installed Wrong - backwards 180 degrees on the EXHAUST stroke. Recently this was realized by a different tech that I took it to than the one that installed the engine and a new Camshaft Synchronizer & Camshaft Sensor was installed. Now I hear all kinds of chattering, rattling, clanking, tapping etc.. metal sounds from that spot above the cam sensor. Is this likely engine damage? If so what types of engine damage could have been incurred by the synchro running in the backwards position for those 2000 miles? OR is it more likely the tech that installed the new synchro and sensor has installed this incorrectly?

Noise turned out to be the idler pulley and tensioner which are new within 3000 miles, but after synchro installed became noisey.
