2009 Ford Truck 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi,

I'm thinking about purchasing a 2009 Ford Flex with 31,200 miles on it.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=275939735&dealer_id=72219&car_year=2009&rdm=1268325536646&lastStartYear=1981&model=FLEX&num_records=25&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=2009&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=used&distance=25&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&sownerid=57996639&showZipError=y&make=FORD&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=14625&advanced=&end_year=2009&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=7&standard=false

After looking through the carfax report:

http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?partner=ATD_U&vin=-51|-13|9|69|50|23|-35|76|31|125|20|-4|-100|45|-97|71|-90|29|72|-115|-83|28|-34|119

I noticed that the first 15,000 miles had been put on it under 3 months!

The first date displayed was 01/09/2009 and represented 10 miles. The next date was less than 3 months later on 03/30/2009 and represented 14,669 miles of use!

The vehicle was than driven under fairly normal conditions incurring about 1600 miles/month instead of the almost 4900 miles/month that it had initially been run at.

My question is this:

Did putting that initial 15,000 miles on the vehicle in under 3 months have the potential to do permanent damage to the vehicle's engine? I've always heard you need to take it easy on a new vehicle for the first 10K miles or so to 'break in' the engine and I'm wondering if that's still good advise.

Thanks,

Chris

Engine break in period is only 1500 miles then it can be driven as you would normally drive.
