1989 F150, starter went bad, replaced with one from Auto Zone. Starter stayed stuck engaged so I took it off and replaced it again from Auto Zone. Same problem. It is not the starter relay as it has no power going to the starter when this happens. (it only happens when the temp outside is below 60 degrees. All summer I do not have a problem. Any suggestions.

Hi:
Let me understand. When the starter is engaging, and you let off the key to the run position, the starter keeps spinning? Also, you are not getting any power to the solenoid and it's still engaging? If so, it sounds like the starter may need shimmed away from the flywheel a bit. Maybe it's locking on to the flywheel and won't release until the engine stops.

Let me know if this helps.
