Car starts easily and idles fine. When you give it gas, it sputters and gradually picks up rpm's. It will not get over 3000-3500 rpm's. Was getting a rotten egg smell from the exhaust, so my neighbor 'shade tree' mechanic took apart and cleaned the cat. converter. The smell went away, but the car does not run much better. He mentioned that the resonator might be also clogged. My question is, will that really cause the car to run without any power, yet start and idle fine. Two answers please. If it will cause the problem, what is the solution. Bring it to a muffler shop and have them replace the resonator or can it also be cleaned out? Next, if that will not cause the car to run that way, what might the problem be. Can it be vacuum? Fuel filter is new and fuel pump seems to be OK. Just looking for some help. Thanks. Bruce
