When driving home from work my check engine light came on and I started to notice that my car wasn't going as fast as it normally does for the amount I was pressing on the pedal. As I continued to drive I got less and less power out of the car. Eventually my car would only creep along and want to stall out if I didn't floor the pedal.

I pulled over and got picked up. I came back later to get my car. It started right back up and I revved the engine up no problem. The same thing happened on my drive home. By the time I got back, my car could only do 15mph and it still would lose power.

I do regular maintenance on my car. It sounds perfectly fine when I drive it, there is just the loss of power and the lack of response from the pedal.

I'm fairly confused as to what the problem might be. I might be able to get it to an auto zone to have them give me an idea of what the engine light means, but I would have to get on a major road with an unresponsive car which worries me.

we really need the codes to discover the cause of the fault .. you could purchase a code reader or have the vehicle towed to a repair shop
